Wedding Planning Reality

Just like the majority of women out there I have been planning my wedding since I was old enough to understand what a wedding was! (and I have to say that was very young!) Now that I am engaged and starting to plan my actual wedding (OMG!!!) I realize that there are a million more aspects to a wedding then I had planned for growing up! I think that some of it I had in my head but didn’t understand that I actually had to pick all that stuff out, who knows maybe I thought that they were just standard wedding stuff that everyone already had…

A few things that I know will be a part of my wedding…

1. My dad will be walking me down the aisle of a church
2. I will have on a big ball gown style dress and a veil
3. We will have traditional wedding vows
4. I will be married with the bible that my parents got married with
5. I will ride from the church to the reception in a white limo
6. My husband and I will have the most perfect first dance of all time!
7. Everyone I love and care about will be there!
8. Then my husband and I will go on a honeymoon to remember

So far all of those will be true! But who would have thought of all the little things! What silverware to use, what color should the napkins be, and don’t get me started on flowers!!! The first thing I did after getting engaged is go to the book store and buy a huge wedding planner, this thing is in a 3 inch (ok maybe bigger) notebook and has just about everything you could ever need and think about in it! I hope it will keep me organized along the way, or at least help keep all the important papers together!

I am glad that we only have 9 months to plan the wedding; sometimes I wish it was only a few months! With a long engagement you have lots of time to change plans, add things that aren’t all that important or needed, and spend more money! Let me tell you the sticker price on some wedding stuff is just crazy! When you are short on time you make decisions off the top of your head, which is what you love and want, and go with it, you don’t have time to second guess yourself and change your colors 10 times! I think my wedding will be better because of it, it will include everything Brad and I find important and it will be all of our first choices! I can’t wait until the big day!

I said YES!

OMG I am engaged!!! 5 months and 10 days after meeting Brad he popped the question! We have been talking about getting married for a while so I guess he figured why not now! He was going to ask my dad over the Christmas holiday when we were at their house but then chickened out (apparently asking my dad if he could marry me is the hardest thing he has ever done) My family had plans to go on a cruise for my dad’s 50th birthday on January 16th, Brad wasn’t going since I met him long after we booked the cruise. So I guess Brad decided he wanted me to have a ring before going on the cruise, that way I could show it off!!! After he called my dad to get the big OK; we went to the mall to look at rings and ended up picking one out!! He said he sat on his bed with my dad’s number in his phone for an hour before he hit send!! (aww how cute)

I couldn’t believe that I was picking out my engagement ring! We went to one store that was going out of business first and I saw a few I liked, but we didn’t think that they would offer financing or a warranty since they were closing… so onto the next store. Wow almost everything in that store was either A out of our price range or B not what I was looking for :( So onward we went to the other store in the mall, which is where I found the perfect ring! It is a Past, Present, and Future ring with diamond flecks on each side! We also picked out my wedding band and his ring! I love his as well; it is tungsten (almost as hard as a diamond) and is 2 tone!

I am SOOOO extremely excited to get married! I don’t think I would have ever imagined finding the right guy this past year! If you would have told me last year that I would be getting married in 2009 I would have laughed at you and said no way! But here I am planning my wedding to my dream guy!

Can you find Mr. Right online?

I must admit that I used to be one of those people that always thought that only the ugly desperate people used online dating… that was until this past summer. In the beginning of 2009 I had a not so fun breakup with the guy I was seeing and needed to get back out on the dating scene. I went out on a few blind dates… all were horrible, or later turned out to be!

After a few months of this a friend of mine suggested I go online and try Match.com, I laughed at her and decided I would continue to try my way. Which was going to Sidelines Friday and Saturday night, and sometimes Sunday, in hopes of finding Mr. Right (what was I thinking?) After about a month of this I was beginning to re-evaluate my strategy, nothing I tried was working. Then I saw on TV where Match.com was having one of their free communication weekends and thought “oh hell why not, it can’t be any worse than I am already doing” After that weekend I decided to go ahead and sign up for a 3 month membership…

I spent several hours setting up my profile, several more hours looking at my matches. I winked at a few guys that I thought were interesting. A few days later I was looking at my matches when I came across this one guy that I found interesting so once again I winked at him. We had several conversations online then decided to meet. As soon as I saw him I thought “OMG I think he is the one” we had a nice dinner at Red Lobster followed by a few movies. We have been inseparable ever since!

So the answer to my question is YES you can find Mr. Right online, I did!

Welcome to Ms 2 Mrs 2 Mommy!

Welcome to the journey of my life! This blog will be a snapshot of how my life evolves throughout the years, starting as a Ms, getting married and becoming a Mrs, then becoming a Mommy!

I suppose you would like to know a little about myself before dive into the craziness I call life. I grew up in Milton Delaware (a small town just outside of Rehoboth Beach). Who wouldn’t love growing up at the beach? I graduated from Cape Henlopen High School in 2002 from there I attended Mount St. Mary’s University. While in college I played Division I golf, I still hold many school records! I graduated with a BS in Business and Sports Management in 2006.

It took me a few jobs (3 to be exact) to find one that was a great fit. I was a stock broker at a fortune 500 company in DC, than an account manager for a music company, and now I am a web designer / social media specialist (you try to fit that on a business card!). I work for PBM Products at their headquarters in Gordonsville VA. For those of you who don’t know (practically anyone reading this) PBM makes generic infant formula and foods.

Currently I reside in Waynesboro VA right across from the High School my father graduated from. I have a cat, Merriweather, and a boxer, Roxy. In January I got engaged to the man of my dreams, but more about that later. We are planning an October wedding back in my hometown.

So I guess you could say life is good… well until the next obstacle comes my way!
